These are challenging times.  The world we live in is complicated and fast-paced.  People get news, information, and advice in a variety of ways.  It can be overwhelming to try to understand and keep up with everything we see and hear.  The information and advice we get is too often intertwined with opinions and spin, and lacking in detail or supporting data.  Many news sources today are primarily focused on how to make as much money as possible and on shaping public opinion.  All too often the opinions thrust upon us are extreme and seek to create division, distortion, and confusion.      

My purpose here is different.  I think it is important to consider that issues are rarely black and white.  In a busy world, it is often easiest to just make quick decisions or judgements about things.  I think that is a mistake.  We need to slow down.  Think things through.  There are generally a number of factors to consider before we make decisions or take action.   

This site includes discussion on many topics.  I focus on current events in a variety of different areas such as – government and politics, personal finance, economics, business and trade, the environment, art, science, medicine, and education.  There is a lot to talk about.  Our world can be challenging, but it is also wonderful, and there is much to consider in all the complexity. 

I don’t have all the answers, but I strive to be rational and thoughtful.  It is impossible to be entirely free of bias, but I try to be objective, balanced, and measured.  I use data and facts whenever possible to tell a story and explain issues.  I do my best here to provide sensible INSIGHTS for readers!
